Summer days
Whew, what a hectic past couple of weeks! We had a huge deadline and had to work 2 weekends in a row :( I also started my class at Art Institute! It's been a real interesting experience and the kids are really great!
This piece is just a quickie, inspired by Ashley Wood, I saw him use some screen tones on top of these cute drawings of girls. I didn't have any screen on hand so I just used some photoshop trickery lol. I hope everyone had a great time at Comic con!

Great Expectations Painting!
Hey Guys!
Look what I finally finished!
I got a new kitten over the weekend so it's been a real hectic mess. My normal cat boots doesnt seem to enjoy the little intruder, but we're hoping that this clears up soon.
edit: here's some photos of kitten! We named him Gizmo
PS. TO GAIA USERS> My handle is SHAOSHAO.

No time to say Goodbye. Hello! I'm late I'm late I'm late!
Ah! After promising to finish that Great Expectations piece I didn't do it! I was so busy last week!
I just got back from NYC for the licensing show, which was a really great learning experience. It was really interesting seeing the varying degrees of artistic skill and ability at the show. It seems like a great way to earn more money from art. All in all a really great research trip!
Thanks to Andrea for letting me crash at her place too! <3
Oh! Also had the Gnomon workshop this weekend, usually this is a pretty great event, this time I was a little disappointed. They had a great lineup of speakers, a lot of people I was really excitied to hear from, but unfortunately there were very few demos this year. I'm not sure I will attend another event :|
Sorry sorry sorry for not finishing the painting! Here's more development on an older painting I did for the caveboy story, the one where he's lost in the forest. My boyfriend suggested maybe indicating more of a transition between light and dark. I think it worked out pretty well. I'll be sure to finish the Great Expectations one soon! I'll post some development for Estella too.

Bus Stop and some Wallpaper
A quick painting based on a photo I took on my drive home from work.
A lot of days now, I feel really uninspired to do art, when I get in that mood it often helps me to look at things that I love that are not necessarily art. I looked at some really cool wallpaper the other day and wanted to try and make my own floral wallpaper. Here's the drawing of it.
This is being used on my new blog! An inspiration blog, photos, crafts, graphic design, interior design, all the things besides illustration that facinate and inspire me!

Caveboy Story Beats
Hey folks!
Here's some of the work I've been doing recently for my portfolio. These are some more story beats for the caveboy story. There is no real narrative, but I tried to come up with short story ideas to fake it teehee.
Whoo...had a tough week at work, the deadline had it so that we stayed at work past midnight twice! But I'm glad that its over and we can stretch a little before it begins again. Yesterday, as a half reward half 'research' trip, we went to the Animation Research Library at Disney and got to see a ton of fantastic Paul Felix layouts...Ahhh...it was so amazing and inspiring! I totally wanted to go out and buy some pencils and try out some of that fabulous graphite technique.

Springtime!
Just a little something to celebrate winter turning into spring....Although it feels like summer around here!
Busy Busy Busy at work this week! Working on the weekend too! I don't mind much, but I'm a little dissapointed because I had made plans to go to the Santa Monica Farmers Market...That place is so great! Hoping to get some good strawberries, or maybe grapefruits...Oh! and maybe visit my favorite bookstore in the whole wide world, Hennesy and Ingles, always a great place to find a good deal and some hidden treasures. Ahhh well~ there's always next week, and it saves me on money buying more books!

My friend Pat...took a Turn...
Ah! The Office is back on TV and all is right with the world again! Last night's episode was so great...
I'm getting really nervous about submitting my stuff to Pixar Internship and Disney Apprenticship this term. I have to admit that this is the most nerv racking part of this process....the waiting! I can't wait though, I'm definetly looking forward to something different
Cheers!

Snakeskin! Leather and Fur! Oh My!
And now, more traditional Entertainment Stuff, I started some ideation on some random stories I would do for the Disney Apprenticeship. I realized I probally shouldnt use two Disney 'Properties' Since I already did Peter pan, this project has been ditched.
Beauty and the Beast, set in 1930' Hollywood, Twilight Zone style.

abalone
Hey folks~! Here I am testing the technique again. Using Agyness Dean as my muse for this. I love her look and vibe!
I'm going to start to work on a new project for my portfolio. I want to get some new work down in order to apply for the Disney Apprenticeship thing in the summer. Now that I wrote it on my blog for the world to see, I cant skimp out on it!

more personal work
Hey guys,
Things have been real busy since I've been out of school. I can't believe it, but I sort of miss the structure of school. It is nice to have a 9-5, but I wish I had more time for myself. I like the feeling though when I can walk into a place and not feel like a child anymore. I'm a full fledged adult now, and although it's a little scary, its also really exciting!
I've been playing with some ink/watercolor wash techniques that my co-worker Arree has shown me, and it's been a lot of fun! Its a great way to explore shapes quickly, I will try to do more stuff like it in the future. I'm thinking maybe a series of little ballerina girls could be cool.
The last one is for a contest to win some jewelry that I threw together quick.
Cheers!
